Multiplexing is a method by which multiple analog message signals or digital data streams are combined into one signal over a shared medium. The aim is to share an expensive resource such as the satellite infrastructure. The multiplexing divides the capacity of the communication channel into several logical channels, one for each message signal or data stream to be transferred. A reverse process, known as demultiplexing, extracts the original channels on the receiver end.
The VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) services refer to a two-way satellite ground station with a small dish antenna that access satellites in geosynchronous orbit to relay data from small remote earth stations (terminals) to other terminals or hubs. VSAT services is a cost efficient solution for internet access in remote areas, where no fixed network exists and can be employed very rabidly.
